Komura f=80mm 1:1.8 for Nikon-S (RF)

KOMURA was the brand name of a series of interchangeble lenses made by the Sankyo Optical Works Inc. (Sankyō Kōki), established in 1954 and kept in business to the beginning of the 1980's. Its president was Mr. Mitsuru Kojima.

f=80mm 1:1.8 "Long Focus Lens"
- notice, they don't call it Telephoto on the lens case.
Why? It's an classical ERNOSTAR design, which is different from a Telephoto.

Komura 80mm with Nikon S2

It's longer in size than the SONNAR-design Nikkor f=85mm 1:2 (Sonnars always are short in length) and slightly faster. Available in different mounts: Nikon Rangefinder (Black/Silver "Zebra" style, Leica LTM/M39 (Black/silver), M42 SLR and Exakta-SLR. All are quite rare.

According to Takehiko Kobayashi (Lenses for Leica, LHSA-article) it was released in 8/1957, which date matches the "Zebra" or "Black" style fashion.

Now, look at the coatings. Nikkor-P.C. 1:2 f=8.5cm, Komura f=80mm 1:1.8, Canon (Leica LTM) 85mm 1:1.8.
The Canon (released latest, 1962) and the Nikkor have much deeper coatings than the Komura, which blueish coating looks like 1950' style. So you may believe, it flares more than the others.

In direct comparison, the Komura isn't just as "silky-smooth" in handling, surface quality and lettering than the Nikon lens. But it wasn't that expensive too, back then.

 The following is UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Komura f=85mm 1:1.4 for Nikon-F (SLR)/ native Nikon mount

The fastest 85mm for Nikon or any SLRs in 1964, and for the next 10 years, until Zeiss released their PLANAR 85/1.4 in QBM mount. Carl Zeiss Jena had the Biotar 75/1.5, but made it mainly only in Exakta mount (some M42).
